Map
Overview
The Cursed Apple is the primary map in Deadlock, featuring a three-lane layout where two teams of six players compete to destroy the enemy’s Patron. The map emphasizes verticality, with numerous rooftops, tunnels, and interior spaces providing strategic high ground and flanking routes.
Lanes
The map is divided into three color-coded lanes, each serviced by a Transit Line (Zipline) for rapid movement:
- Yellow (York Ave.): Side lane.
- Blue (Broadway): Middle lane.
- Green (Park Ave.): Side lane.
Objectives
Teams must destroy a series of defensive structures to progress toward the enemy base and ultimately win the match.
Lane Objectives
- Guardians: The first defensive line. Each lane has one Guardian. Destroying a Guardian grants souls to the team and unlocks the nearby Item Shop for the attacking team.
- Walkers: Large, heavily armored automatons that serve as the second objective in each lane. They possess powerful area-of-effect attacks and high health.
- Base Guardians: Two Guardians located at the entrance of the base in each lane. Both must be destroyed to progress to the Shrines.
Base Objectives
- Shrines: Two Shrines are located within the enemy base. Both must be destroyed to make the Patron vulnerable to damage.
- The Patron: The final objective. The Patron has two phases:
- Initial Phase: The Patron remains stationary and defends itself with powerful attacks.
- Vulnerable Phase: Once its first health bar is depleted, it teleports to a pit deeper in the base. Destroying it in this phase wins the match.
Map Features
Transit Lines (Ziplines)
- Used for rapid traversal from the base to the lanes.
- Speed Boost: Players can activate a temporary speed boost (cooldown applies).
- Combat: Taking damage while on a zipline can knock the player off and cause a brief stun.
Mid-Boss
- Located in the central arena of the map.
- Spawn Time: First spawns at 10:00.
- Rejuvenator: Upon death, the Mid-Boss drops a Rejuvenator crystal. A player must perform a heavy melee attack to claim it for their team.
- Buffs: Grants increased Trooper health, faster Trooper fire rate, and reduced respawn timers for the team (one-time use).
Soul Urn
- Spawn Time: First spawns at 12:00, then every 6:00.
- Mechanic: A neutral objective picked up with melee and carried across the map to the bridge on the opposite side lane. Depositing it starts a 20m king-of-the-hill capture point.
- Rewards: Grants a significant Soul bounty to the entire team.
- Carrier: The carrier is disarmed, cannot use movement abilities, is revealed, and gains +2 m/s move speed, 0 m/s sprint speed, +1 stamina, +10% dash distance, +25% stamina regen, and 100% slow resistance. If the carrier’s team is behind, the carrier also gains +5m sprint speed, +35% Bullet Resist, and +35% Spirit Resist for themselves only.
Jungle and Neutrals
- Neutral Camps: Scattered between lanes, these camps provide Souls when cleared. They are categorized by difficulty (Tier 1, 2, and 3).
- Sinner’s Sacrifice: Special machines that can be destroyed to grant Souls but damage the player in the process.
Environmental Mechanics
- Cosmic Veils: One-way vision barriers that allow players to see through from one side while remaining hidden from the other.
- Teleporters: Connect different parts of the map, often linking the outer lanes to the inner lanes or the underground areas.
- Bounce Pads: Provide vertical launches to reach high-ground positions.
- Item Shops: Located in the base, next to each lane’s first Guardian, and in specific “Secret Shop” locations in the jungle.
